The Midi Orchestra – Intermediate

The midi orchestra is a fun but wieldy beast. One has to be composer, performer and engineer to create something that approaches what a real orchestra can do. Award winning composer Amin Bhatia was one of the first to build a career in midi orchestration and composition.

In this next level intermediate course he will dive deeper into the process of writing, performing and mixing for virtual orchestra. The course is completely online in four zoom sessions, shaped directly by the participants’ questions that they will ask when applying. Each participant will also submit a piece of music that they are in the middle of working on. There will be homework!

Entry Requirements

Instructor Bio

Emmy nominated Amin Bhatia has been composing for several decades. His prizes in the Roland International Synthesizer competitions led to projects with David Foster and Steve Porcaro, with a synth cameo on Michael Jackson’s Thriller.

Amin’s music has been likened to the harmonic inventiveness of Jerry Goldsmith and the technical prowess of Hans Zimmer. TV scores include “Anne with an E”, “Flashpoint”, “The Handmaid’s Tale”, “Detention Adventure”, and “Lets Go Luna”, many of them co-written with his friend and colleague Ari Posner with whom he shares several Canadian Screen Awards. Film credits include “Iron Eagle II” and “John Woo’s Once a Thief” as well as many orchestral scores for David Lickley’s IMAX features.
