Andres Galindo Arteaga
Andrés Galindo Arteaga is an award-winning Colombian-Canadian media composer based in Toronto renowned for his innovative fusion of traditional folkloric acoustic instruments with contemporary electronic synthesis.
In 2015, Andrés began to study at Centennial College's Music Industry Arts and Performance program, where he graduated with honours in 2018. Shortly after, he completed an internship at the Screen Composers Guild of Canada. Most recently, Andrés was one of ten participants selected to be part of the 2022 SOCAN Labs, formerly known as the scoring retreat where he worked composing under CSA Rich Williamson's guidance (“Scarborough”, 2021, TIFF) and Steph Copeland (“The Oak Room”, “Vicious Fun”).
Among his many professional credits, notable highlights include works featured in national TV networks and film festivals. Some of these include Canada Shorts, Montreal Film Festival, Berlin Shorts Awards and a premiere at TIFF Bell Lightbox for the score he composed for the short “Acid Wash”.
Andrés’ ability to craft unique and distinctive soundscapes enabled him to compose additional music for prominent composer Gemini and CSA-winning composer Mark Korven (“The Black Phone”, “The Lighthouse”, “The Witch”).
In addition, Andrés is a two-time SOCAN AV award winner for best original score non-fiction feature (In Despair, 2021) and best original opening theme (Her & More, 2022).
