Tom Ionescu

Tom Ionescu (MMus., BEd.) is Canadian musician, composer, recording artist, and visual artist. Over the last decade he has celebrated a multifaceted career as a live performer (Jane's Party, Shad, Dwayne Gretzky, Iskwē), recording artist (Shad, Jane's Party, Andrew Hyatt, Ferraro), film composer, songwriter, and graphic artist. Tom's work with his band Jane's Party has included five full-length albums, collaborations with Ewan Currie (The Sheepdogs), Leland Whitty (BADBADNOTGOOD),Greg Keelor (Blue Rodeo), and Skratch Bastid among others, and multiple singles on regular rotation on Indie 88.1, 102.1 The Edge, CBC Radio 1 & 2, and Sirius XM. Tom holds a Masters degree in jazz guitar performance from the University of Toronto and is currently on music faculty at Humber College in Toronto, Canada.

Surrounded on all sides by antique tube amps, shelves of effects pedals, synths, and tape machines, Tom feels right at home to compose. Drawing on his experience as a performing guitarist, song writer, and music producer, his palette embraces the nuance of what makes sound familiar and charming. Whether capturing the hiss of an ancient amplifier, the sound of fingers sliding across strings on a guitar, or the warble and flutter of an old cassette deck, each choice shines a light on the corners of human imperfection to deliver a deeply personal emotional impact.
