Toronto, 11 August 2025: The Screen Composers Guild of Canada (SCGC) is pleased to announce that the 2025 recipient of the SCGC award for distinguished service to the industry is Jennifer Brown. This award is presented by the SCGC Board to recognize individuals or companies whose outstanding contributions have made a lasting impact on the screen composer industry.

Since taking on her role as CEO at SOCAN, Jennifer’s leadership has had a meaningful and lasting impact through her commitment to collaboration and open communication. She has demonstrated what it means to lead with purpose and integrity, and as a result, has strengthened our organizations and the members we represent. We are truly honoured to recognize your work with this award.

As SOCAN’s CEO, Jennifer Brown is a strong voice for music creators, striving every day to  build a more equitable, transparent, and creator-focused music community in Canada.  With more than two decades of strategic experience, Jennifer not only brings deep professional knowledge but also a personal connection to the work. With industry collaboration, advocacy, and innovation, SOCAN is working to  ensure music continues to be recognized as both valuable and essential to Canadian culture.

“The work that the SCGC does for the Canadian screen composer community is incredibly important, and we’re so proud of the partnership and trust we’ve built together,” said Jennifer Brown, SOCAN CEO. “I am honoured to receive this award and look forward to the opportunities ahead to continue strengthening and supporting this talented group of music creators.”

The award will be presented to Jennifer at the 4th annual Canadian Screen Music Awards (CASMA) ceremony on September 10th at the El Mocambo in Toronto.
