Scotty Kipfer
Scotty Kipfer, CCMA and CMAO Award-nominated singer/songwriter, has embraced a life-long obsession with iconic scores and theme songs from cartoons, movies, television shows, and video games. A graduate of the film scoring program at Berklee College of Music, Scotty is now infusing his whimsically unconventional musical sensibility into his orchestral writing.
His debut album, Taking My Time, showcased Scotty’s songwriting skills and featured collaborations with luminary artists like Tenille Townes, The Western Swing Authority, Ryan Cook, Molly Brown, Callie McCullough, and Emily Reid. Scotty’s collaborative spirit also shines through on McCullough’s album, After Midnight, on which he holds writing and production credits. The album, featuring members of GRAMMY Award-winning bands The Time Jumpers and Union Station, earned a Canadian Country Music Association Award nomination for Alternative Country Album of the Year. The title track also earned Callie and Scotty a Country Music Association of Ontario award nomination for Songwriters of the Year. He is currently working on his second studio album, which promises another foray into his distinctively clever style.
Scotty has also recently launched a fun new project called Symphony Nostalgique. Under this banner, he is releasing orchestral versions of classic cartoon and video game music. The first single, the iconic theme from Inspector Gadget, was released in August 2024.
Outside the realm of music, Scotty enjoys collecting animation production art and comic books, and he is an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan. He lives in Stratford, Ontario with his wife and their dog, Ruby.
