For Immediate release
Wednesday, September 24, 2014.
The Screen Composers Guild of Canada (SCGC) released today a Baseline Study on the Membership and Industry of the Screen Composers Guild of Canada. The objectives of this study are to document the professional environment of screen composers in Canada and to provide a baseline against which subsequent studies may be measured. Funded by the SCGC and Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), the Study was conducted by strategic research and consulting firm Circum Network Inc.
“As representatives of all English-speaking screen composers in Canada, the SCGC believes it is vital to accurately identify industrial trends in order to develop strategies which better support screen composers in Ontario and all across Canada”, says Marvin Dolgay, SCGC (Former) President.
The Study examines all avenues of screen composing including Film and TV, Digital Media, Commercials and the Music Industry. Among the areas of analysis are Business Structures and Models, Revenues and Expenses, Challenges to Growth and Market Demands. It also reviews existing published and grey- literature materials, particularly government publications. A detailed profile survey of SCGC Membership is also included in the Study.
