Marianna Donaldson

Marianna Donaldson is a film composer from Calgary, Canada. Her training as a classical pianist brought her to Acadia University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in music composition. She then studied popular music production, business and songwriting at Point Blank Music School in London, UK, and music composition for film and TV with the Berklee College of Music.

As a film composer Marianna has scored a variety of short films that have been screened at TAAFI (2023), Oakville Festival of Film and Art (2022), PEFF (2022), and have won the short films competition at Linea d'Ombra Festival (2022) while receiving honourable mention at the Student World Impact Film Festival (2022).

In 2022, Marianna was chosen to attend NYU’s Summer Screen Scoring workshops, to study Film and TV scoring under the guidance of composers from LA and New York, while recording with the Budapest Scoring Orchestra.

This past December, she was selected as one of 10 composers from across Canada to participate in SOCAN's 2022 Screen Music Laboratory for Emerging Composers, working under the mentorship of director Rich Williamson (Scarborough), and composer Steph Copeland (CASMA winner 2022).
